Yes they HAVE to flip it before giving it to the customer, if they don’t, the customer can ask for a free blizzard

It’s often written on the cup “served upside down, or you get a free one”

I used to work at DQ and if I forgot the manager would call me out on it lol

Its to prove to the customer that they made you a blizzard instead of a chunky milkshake.

    4. Except for the time they didn’t actually do it for me, and had a sign right next to the register that said it was FREE if they didn’t, and still made me pay for it anyway.

Reminder that the Blizzard is a knock off of a local ice cream shop in St. Louis called Ted Drewes

Reminds me of that kid that says “¡es mágica bro!” and it all spills on the floor. Haha

I worked at dairy queen and I enjoyed this bit…unless it was banana split. Then I hated it.

He must’ve flipped my blizzard 8 times!

So one time they didn’t do this. I excitingly yanked it out of my ex’s hands and gleefully exclaimed “they forgot to do the thing” and I turned it upside over my ex’s lap. Low and behold all the hot fudge topping came pouring out onto her lap… so I guess they don’t do it for every blizzard.

One of the last pieces of old world “whimsy” left in the capitalist world and you want to get rid of it?! The definition of “no fun”. If they were to stop we would all be like “mannn it was great back in the day they would etc”.

    11. I went to Dairy Queen one time. The chick working the drive through was very clearly new. She flipped my blizzard upside down and the whole thing fell out on the drive through counter. We both laughed so hard.

“I promise this isn’t a trick to get a free blizzard, I just REALLY hate having my blizzards flipped. You can trust me, do NOT flip the blizzard.”

    13. Always thought it’d be funny if someone who just quit a job at Dairy Queen muscle memory’d a large sweet tea upside down on their first day at Raising Canes

    14. That’s why I started doing pickup. When I get there it’s in the refrigerator.

    15. I used to work at a DQ. People would gwt written up if they were caught not turning the cup upside down. That was back in 2014 though, so things may have changed. But it was legit policy that we had to do it or face the consequences. The reason for the write ups was because the rule was if you don’t flip it, the customer gets a free blizzard. And the company isn’t interested in honoring that.

kinda vague post but i’m intrigued. what’s the story here? need some context or we’re just guessing lol

    17. I’ve been going to Dairy Queen’s and getting blizzards at least 1 time a year since the nineties and I’ve never actually had them hold a blizzard upside down.

Onetime I did this to show someone that it worked and I didn’t realize they had it double cupped and it just slid out of the extra cup into the parking lot and I was just there standing an upside down empty cup like 😔

As a former dq employee, nothing stressed me out more than when the ice cream wasn’t fully frozen. Gotta flip that thing so quick or else it’d fall out. (You could feel the ice cream sliding out the cup mid flip when the ice cream was runny)
